LA TIERRA

ALFARERÍA
The earth is spread out on the ground outdoors, where the lumps are crushed with rollers. The resulting powder is then passed through a sieve.

The earth is placed in a large pit with water. There, the clay is softened by hand and foot. Once it becomes liquid, it is transferred to another settling pond, where the water gradually evaporates.

After the clay is removed, it is left to dry for some time. Before it is used and kneaded, it is divided into manageable pieces.

To remove the air trapped inside the clay, it is kneaded by hand and foot, forming the clay balls that are then taken directly to the potter’s wheel.
